Campamento Tortuguero Ayotlcalli A.C. began operations in 2011 with the goal of protecting and increasing the populations of East Pacific leatherbacks, olive ridleys, and green turtles. Now, the project has expanded to involve the members of local communities in conservation efforts and environmental education activities.

With this grant, they are targeting school-aged children, fishers, and local businesses in their outreach campaigns to encourage the stewardship of sea turtle habitats.
